It is a pity that the Government is not highlighting the positive significance of the Nuclear deal in the field of medicine. The Deal provides for exchange of information and technology in nuclear medicine, which is the medicine of the future. That detection methods like the various scans, MRI etc are nuclear is unknown to most Indians. Nuclear medicine imaging is used for detecting:and treating tumours, aneurysms (weak spots in blood vessel walls), irregular or inadequate blood flow to various tissues, blood cell disorders and inadequate functioning of organs, such as thyroid and pulmonary function deficiencies. The study of genes is totally through nuclear technology only.
The Deal provides for joint Advanced nuclear energy research and development in such areas as the use of nuclear material in physical, chemical, radiological and biological research, medicine and agriculture. Objectively, this itself should be reason enough for the Deal. The enemies of the Deal ought to consider at least the benefits to those of our Cancer and heart patients who cannot go abroad for modern treatment.
The Left is going on as if India is all eager to explode Nuclear bombs all around and that the Deal might stop it from doing so. What an immature position !
